Jon Muir's Mustang as it rolled out of our shop |
| The first cut. The front suspension firewall forward is cut away. | Body sides braced, the rear floor, trunk floor and inner wheel wells are removed as well as strips in floor for the new frame. |
| 5 men and a boy (well OK a cherry picker) positioned the body on the new frame. The frame is buried in the body to retain as much interior room in the car as possible. | The new frame mated perfectly to the old transmission horns and was welded on. The Heidt universal cross-member and Mustang II front suspension is a natural fit with AFCO coil-over shocks and springs. |
| Rear frame rails with rear end tunnel and trunk floor installed to use the stock fuel tank | Now this beats crawling underneath to weld bottom of car and having the sparks rain down on you |
| Rear end is Ford 9" with four link and AFCO coil-over shocks and springs. Wilwood disc brakes with spot E-brakes provide rear stopping. |
4130 roll bar for added rollover protection |
| Jon's 351 C engine needed a rear sump and external oil pump to clear the Mustang II cross-member. A new transmission cross-member was fabricated to accept the Richmond 6 speed transmissions mount position. |
